Surfing and Pilates in Spain

For the last four years Errant Surf Holidays has run a number of successful Girls Surf and Pilates weeks in Spain. In 2010 we will be heading back to the warm bay or Loredo, Northern Spain for more great surf coaching, Pilate’s, top food, plenty of shopping and good times.

We have a world class team looking after you, including London’s Body Control studio, Amy Swanson. The girls will be on hand through the week, alongside the Errant team to make sure, that no matter what level you are, you get the most out of your surfing, and Pilates.

You will stay at our exclusive surf styled guesthouse La Hosteria De Latas, in the beautiful region of Cantabria, Spain. Backed by snow capped mountains, you can expect to be surfing in a light summer wetsuit with air temperatures of 24c in May and in September!

This trip will offer the perfect antidote after a long cold winter (or British summer!) The quality and the experience of the coaches can not be matched. All the coaches are British Surfing Associated qualified, insured, experienced lifeguards.

Our weeks in Spain are so popular they are sponsored by SurfGirl magazine. Amongst the surfing, Pilates and bathing in the sunshine in our big garden you will also get the chance to go shopping in the cosmopolitan city of Santander.
Your Accommodation in Spain

Your accommodation will be in our luxury surf lodge on the stunning coastline of Cantabria, Spain. La Hosteria is the perfect getaway surf destination. Located a mere 400m from the long ( four miles) sandy bay of Somo and only 15 minutes from the chic city of Santander, there is always somewhere to explore. La Hosteria sleeps 12 people, in six rooms. All of which are en-suite, and have TV’s and iPod docking stations. Built into this typical Spanish building is our surf school, surf bar and big living space. There is also access to WIFI throughout the surf lodge.

Surfing and Pilates

Northern Spain has been chosen to host our Girls Only Surf and Pilates weeks based on the most ideal season for surf and sunshine. The team will tailor a coaching plan of each surfer over the week, using the latest coaching techniques and equipment.

The team will take you to some of the fun beach breaks the area has to offer, similar to that found in the UK. Should you be looking to progress into bigger or point break waves, advanced coaching will be arranged.

After a hard day soaking up the sunshine and fine tuning your skills, you will have the opportunity to try out some Pilates. Pilates can help you make the most of your precious time in the water by helping to develop your mind/body connection and heighten your proprioception and balance.

In your Pilates sessions you will be using deep core stabilisers, lengthening tight muscles whilst strengthening others, focusing the mind and getting your blood pumping. We will use exercises specifically chosen to target muscles and movement patterns used in surfing.

Amy is a classically trained dancer who came to Pilates through her dance training. She now teaches for the Body Control Pilates Association in London and is a supervising teacher at the Body Control Pilates Academy.
